Pre-Orientation Leaders

Applications for 2024 Pre-Orientation Leaders are open from January 28 - February 25, 2024.

Thank you for your interest in being a Pre-Orientation Leader. Pre-Orientation Leaders are selected to serve as small group leaders throughout the Ignite Pre-Orientation program. Pre-O Leaders facilitate engaging discussions and activities related to self-awareness, goal-setting, and interpersonal skills. In addition, these students foster meaningful mentoring relationships to incoming first-year students while helping them discover what it means to be a student at Emory.

Ignite is a 5-day, optional interest-based pre-orientation program. Through both large and small group activities, first-year students set goals for the upcoming academic year, explore communities of Atlanta, and grow a sense of belonging at Emory through social opportunities and peer-to-peer mentorship.

In 2023, Ignite included six tracks or focus areas in collaboration with departments across Emory University:
  • Ignite Intersections (hosted by Belonging & Community Justice)
  • Ignite Community Engagement (hosted by Civic & Community Engagement)
  • Ignite Innovation (hosted by The Hatchery)
  • Ignite Leadership (hosted by Student Involvement, Leadership, & Transitions)
  • Ignite Sustainability (hosted by the Office of Sustainability Initiatives)
  • Ignite Arts (hosted by Emory Arts)

Students interested in applying as a Pre-Orientation Leader can apply to both Orientation and Pre-Orientation, but must commit to only one.

We recognize that being a Pre-Orientation Leader is a large responsibility. Pre-Orientation Leaders are compensated up to $600 for their contributions during the Pre-Orientation experience.
