First STEM

The FirstSTEM Pre-Orientation Program at Emory is an invitation-only program that provides peer mentorship and early connections to STEM opportunities and faculty. It is designed for students who identify as first-generation or who are helping broaden participation in STEM fields.

Through FirstSTEM, students build community, access academic resources, and explore research opportunities early in their college experience. Participants are more likely to have higher GPAs, participate in research, and graduate with their intended STEM major. Support continues through the first year and grows into leadership opportunities across all four years at Emory.

Registration for FirstSTEM opens May 13, 2026 at 6 p.m.
